Let’s pretend something wonderful just happened.
It’s Saturday morning.
The bathrooms need cleaning.
The floors need vacuuming.
There’s dust on the furniture.
The kitchen could use some attention.
And you…
don’t have to do any of it.
Your professional cleaning is already handled.
Now what?
We’ve spent plenty of time talking about what a cleaning service does for your home.
But maybe we should talk about something more fun:
What could you do with the time you get back?
Because a clean bathroom is great.
A free Saturday might be even better.
First, You Are Not Required to Be Productive
Let’s establish this immediately.
If you hire someone to clean your house, you do not have to use those reclaimed hours to accomplish something impressive.
You don’t need to organize the garage.
Meal prep for six days.
Start a side business.
Train for a marathon.
You are completely allowed to sit on the couch with coffee and do…
absolutely nothing.
That’s an activity.
We’re counting it. 😂
Have a Slow Morning
When was the last time you had a Saturday morning that wasn’t immediately filled with things you should be doing?
Make breakfast.
Drink your coffee while it’s still hot.
Watch the morning news.
Stay in your pajamas longer than necessary.
Let the dog outside and stand there wondering why dogs need 17 minutes to choose the perfect spot.
There’s something luxurious about not immediately launching into a household to-do list.
Go Out for Breakfast
Here’s an idea.
Instead of spending Saturday morning cleaning the kitchen…
Go somewhere and let somebody else dirty theirs. 😂
Meet a friend.
Take your spouse.
Bring the kids.
Order another cup of coffee.
And when breakfast is over, you don’t have to go home and scrub a bathroom.
That’s a pretty solid morning.
Enjoy a Fargo-Moorhead Fall Day
Fall around Fargo-Moorhead doesn’t last nearly long enough.
One minute we’re admiring the leaves.
The next minute we’re looking for the ice scraper.
So when we get one of those gorgeous crisp fall days, take advantage of it.
Go for a walk.
Take the dogs somewhere.
Visit a pumpkin patch.
Drive around and look at the fall colors.
Sit outside with coffee.
You can clean a bathroom in January.
Actually…
Let us clean it in January too. 😂
Spend Time With Your Kids
Kids don’t remember whether the baseboards were dusted on September 30th.
They remember what you did together.
Go to the park.
Watch their game.
Bake something.
Take them somewhere.
Watch a movie.
Sit around and talk.
You don’t need to create some elaborate family experience.
Sometimes having a few hours where you’re not distracted by household chores is enough.
Visit Your Parents or Grandchildren
Life gets busy.
Weeks disappear.
Then suddenly you’re saying:
“We really need to get together soon.”
Professional cleaning doesn’t magically create more hours in the week.
But it can remove something that was occupying a few of them.
Use those hours for people.
That’s rarely a bad trade.
Take the Dogs Somewhere
Your dog has never once thought:
“Wow, I’m glad you’re staying home to mop today.”
Your dog is thinking:
“CAR RIDE?”
Take a walk.
Go to the park.
Drive somewhere.
Explore a trail.
Or just spend an extra half hour throwing the same ball your dog will immediately demand you throw again.
The floors can be cleaned while you’re gone.
Do Something You’ve Been Putting Off Because You Actually WANT to Do It
This is different from another chore.
Maybe you’ve wanted to:
Read a book.
Paint.
Garden.
Go antiquing.
Work on a craft.
Go fishing.
Take photographs.
Bake.
Exercise.
Start a project.
Sometimes hobbies disappear not because we stopped enjoying them but because everyday responsibilities took over the available time.
Maybe it’s time to take some of that time back.
Go Shopping Without Rushing
There’s grocery shopping.
And then there’s wandering around a store because you have nowhere else you need to be.
Those are very different experiences. 😄
Take your time.
Browse.
Stop for coffee.
Go somewhere you’ve been meaning to check out.
Then come home to a house somebody else cleaned.
That’s the important part.
Take a Nap
We are serious.
Adults need to normalize naps.
You’ve worked all week.
Your house is being cleaned.
The laundry can wait.
The world will continue rotating.
Take the nap.
This may be the strongest argument we’ve made for professional cleaning so far. 😂
Work on Your Career or Business
Maybe free time isn’t about relaxation for you.
Maybe you’re building something.
Those few hours could be spent:
Working on your business.
Learning a new skill.
Planning.
Meeting clients.
Catching up on work.
If an hour of your time creates more value doing something else than it does cleaning your bathroom, outsourcing the cleaning starts making a lot of sense.
Spend Time With Your Spouse
Here’s a romantic date idea:
Neither of you cleans the house.
Pretty good, right?
Go to lunch.
Take a drive.
Watch a movie.
Go somewhere.
Or sit together at home.
Household chores have a funny way of eating up the exact hours couples could otherwise spend together.
Sometimes outsourcing one recurring responsibility creates a little breathing room.
Host People More Often
When your home is professionally maintained, having people over can feel less intimidating.
Instead of thinking:
“We can’t have anyone over. I need to clean first.”
you may find yourself saying:
“Sure. Come over.”
Friends.
Family.
Grandkids.
Neighbors.
A clean home should help you live more—not make you afraid to touch anything.
Or Just Stay Home and Enjoy the Clean House
Here’s another option.
Go nowhere.
Your house has just been professionally cleaned.
Enjoy it.
Sit on the couch.
Light a candle.
Make some coffee.
Put on a movie.
Walk through the bathroom and admire the fact that somebody else cleaned the toilet.
It’s the little things. 😂
Time Is the Part You Can’t Replace
Money matters.
Of course it does.
That’s why people think carefully before paying for services they could technically do themselves.
But time has something money doesn’t.
You can’t earn it back.
The Saturday you spend cleaning is gone.
The afternoon with your kids is gone.
The beautiful fall day is gone.
That doesn’t mean nobody should ever clean their own house.
It simply means your time deserves to be part of the calculation.
Professional Cleaning Is About More Than Cleaning
At Dust Busters Cleaning Service, we’re proud of clean floors.
We like sparkling bathrooms.
We notice shiny faucets.
We appreciate a good vacuum line more than most reasonable people probably should. 😂
But those aren’t the biggest things we’re giving our customers.
We’re giving them one less responsibility.
One less weekend chore.
One less thing sitting on the mental to-do list.
And a few more hours to spend however they choose.
So if you’re wondering whether professional cleaning is worth it, maybe don’t only ask:
“What will they clean?”
Ask:
“What will I do while they’re cleaning it?”
That answer might be worth even more.
